Magellan Ensemble
Olivier Thouin, violin; Yukari Cousineau, viola
Yegor Dyachkov, cello; Jean Saulnier, piano

Created in the image of the explorer whose name it bears, the Magellan Ensemble, founded by Yegor Dyachkov in 2007, travels through unusual musical worlds to find a route that differs from those taken by other ensembles. The four-member ensemble forms duos, trios and quartets with piano in a veritable exploration of chamber music. For the past three seasons, the group has been the ensemble in residence at the Chapelle historique du Bon Pasteur. It has also appeared at a number of festivals and Radio-Canada has broadcast some of its performances. The Magellan Ensemble includes four outstanding musicians:

*Olivier Thouin, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s associate concertmaster;
*Yukari Cousineau, the Orchestre Métropolitain’s concertmaster;
*Yegor Dyachkov, an internationally recognized chamber musician and soloist;
*Jean Saulnier, a soloist and chamber musician favoured by the best musicians from Canada and abroad .
